Shit Robot Premieres New Video, feat. LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang!

Shit Robot premiered his new video for “Take ‘Em Up” over at Pitchfork on Monday. The video, directed by Eoghan Kidney, follows LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang on a multi-colored, multiplied psychedelic voyage around Brooklyn. The track highlights the distinctive sound Lambkin has created- massive beats, complemented by the irresistable vocals of Whang (who appears on the album).
“Take ‘Em Up” will be released as a 12” & digital single later this month via DFA Records- more info coming soon! The single will feature remixes of “Take ‘Em Up” by Marcus Marr and Mark E, with John Talabot and Michael Mayer contributing additional remixes to the digital package. From the Cradle to the Rave is a near perfect album, and “Take Em Up” is one reason why- the interplay between Marcus “Shit Robot” Lambkin’s loping synthesizer disco-funk and Nancy Whang’s unflappable vocals is, simply, great.
“Take ‘Em Up” is featured on Shit Robot’s James Murphy-produced debut full-length, which dropped September 21st on DFA Records. Shit Robot, aka Marcus Lambkin (aka The Godfather of DFA, according to Murphy), is an Irish-born DJ who has been spinning dance music for over two decades. He’s responsible for not only turning Murphy onto dance music in the 90’s, but also literally lending his carpentry skills to build the infamous DFA studio from the ground up.
Keep an eye out for more Shit Robot news, coming soon!

Underworld: New single ‘Bird 1’ announced for November 23rd Remixers
With their sixth studio album ‘Barking’ – out now to widespread critical acclaim – Underworld have once again performed a feat of creative regeneration; the duo have announced their next single ‘Bird 1’ will be released digitally on November 23rd. The shuddering machine pulses of ‘Bird 1’ – the album’s opener – has been reworked by several DJs and producers:
1. Bird 1 (album version), 2. Bird 1 (Mark Broom remix), 3. Bird 1 (Lone remix), 4. Bird 1 (Pete Tong remix), 5. Bird 1 (Clouds remix), 6. Bird 1 (sbtrkt remix), 7. Bird 1 (radio edit)
‘Barking’ is Underworld’s first album in three years, and their first to be constructed with a brilliant cast of co-conspirators. All the tracks were written by the band in their Essex studio before being given to handpicked studio heads from across the whole spectrum of dance music to add some of their style and creativity to the band’s raw material. The result is a pimped-up Underworld record and their finest collection of songs in over a decade.
Stunning fans with 2 hour sets in NY, LA, San Diego, DC and SF and a much talked about performance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, all we can say, is hurry up back Underworld!
